Kitty peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 23, 2018, at the Orangeburg Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg, SC. Through it all she remained faithful to God as she and her loving family sought after the Lord.

Kitty, daughter of the late Kelly "Humpy" L. Johnson Sr. and Curlie "Darby" Jenkins Johnson, was born on September 21, 1943. She received Christ at an early age and joined the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Perry, SC where she served diligently as president of the Voices of Piney Grove for over 30 years. In 2000 she answered the call and went into the ministry.

On January 6, 1961 she became the loving and devoted wife of the late Mr. Gilbert Johnson Jr. Kitty was employed by Salley Manufacturing in Salley, SC for a number of years. After which, she became a wonderful content housewife, continued to be an unconditionally loving mother/grandmother, enjoyed working in her yard with her flowers, and eventually, she became the neighborhood nanny - affectionately known as "Momma Kitty".

Kitty was predeceased by a sister, Mildred J. Butler, 5 brothers: Louis Johnson of the Swan Silvertones, Kelly L. Johnson Jr., James Deedee Johnson, Sylvester Johnson, Cleophus Pete Johnson, and the honorable Rev. Andrew Johnson; her grandson Bernard K. Johnson who departed this life on this past Friday.

Kitty touched the lives of many and always shared the word of God with all no matter what the situation. She was full of fun and laughter and had a passion for her children and grandchildren. She was truly a virtuous woman of God and had strong faith in the Almighty. She leaves to cherish her precious memories two sons: her oldest amazingly awesome loving son Bernard Johnson and Renard Johnson, five daughters: Brenda Denise Johnson, her wonderfully devoted baby girl Veronica J. (Antonio) Williams, Joslyn Rena Gunter, Lorene Green, Lynise (Marc) Collier. Her precious grandchildren: Alicia, Akedra, LaDebra, Asaan, and Azaria, Siniese and Saleshia; great grandson: Akevian; three sisters: Pearline P. Williams, O'kellar J. Phillips, Jeanell (Henry) Allen, and Emma L. Stukes; two brothers: Rev. Dr. Levan Johnson and Gullmas (Cynthia) Johnson; sister-in-laws: Zelma J. Yon, Syblean C. Johnson and Lovely Ann Johnson, and Eartha Johnson; brother-in-laws: Earl Clark, Larry Johnson. Her very loving and caring adopted daughters: Ann Hay Sims and Elaine Stroman, and special thanks to her outstanding caregiver who went above and beyond for her "Sweet Pea", Gail Clemons; a very special son in love to her Tiberius T. Gunter. Special brothers of the Legendary Southern Six: Joe Thomas, and Eugene Corley. As well, she leaves much love to some of her Momma Kitty's babies: Deandra, Ashley, Asonte (Mocha), Shamon and Ramone and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kitty's plea to God was to let her live to see all her children get grown and indeed she was granted this wish. One thing for certain is that love is as love does...she loved her children and they most definitely loved and cared for her; she loved all her family. Kitty's love and passion for Christ sustained her as she endured her recent health issues. Nevertheless, her battle has been fought and on Monday, July 23 the victory has been won.
